I used the "copy partial project" tool/option from the project context menu and the action completed successfully, but it doesn't display the project tasks in the project tasks pane of the UI. I can tell that the process completed successfully by viewing the Gantt chart and I can see the project tasks there. I'm actually copying an entire project, which has tasks and subtasks, so I can effectively use it as a template.
We are currently on glide-calgary-02-15-2013__patch2-hotfix5-09-16-2013.
Anyone tried this and have similar/different results?

This is a helpful thread. Wondering @Earl L if when you mentioned, copying a partial project adds "the full project as a new separate project, along with all of it's tasks and subtasks, and it makes that new project a child project of the current project", how to resolve this. I had previously used the copy partial project feature to move a large number of tasks from one planning console to another so we did not have to manually enter them. Then, I had the user edit the new tasks. This time, a new project got created unlike in previous years/releases.
Do you resolve by deleting the project that got created? Does this retain the project tasks that were copied from one project to another?
Similar to you, we'll have to test and report the outcome, but curious to see how working through the plans worked out for you. Thanks ahead!
