How to make RITM workflow wait for Request Approval in Order Guide

Hello,

I have an order guide that requires approval, which will be done in the sc_request workflow. Depending on what the user chooses, there could up to 3 RITMs that come out of this order guide. Each RITM has its own workflow. The problem i am having is how to make the RITMs workflow not run until the approval is complete in the Request workflow. Right now, as soon as i submit the order guide, the Request workflow is waiting for approval, but the RITMs start running through their workflows before the approval is granted. Do i need to put some kind of wait for condition at the beginning of the RITM workflows? Is it possible to get values from the Request workflow into the RITM workflow? Does anyone have any ideas of how i could handle this?

Hello Bruler1230,

I don't think you can have an order guide wait for an approval, but I think I have a way to do what you want.  Edit the workflow for a sc_request record and have it perform the approval.  Since the sc_request table is probably used for many catalog items which will not require an approval, you should put a check in the workflow to send the approval only for the desired catalog item.  Here's an image of a workflow we've used in the past ( its changed now, we don't do approvals at this level ).

basically, i am just needing to make the ritm wait to run until the Request workflow is finished. Im guessing this will need to be a wait condition? trying to figure out how i can check the status of the parent request and start the ritm if the parent request is approved.

Also, what logic are you using in your Account Request Order Guide if statement?

Are you trying in OOB Personal Instance?

Because, In OOB Instance, the RITM workflow will wait until the Request workflow is approved and closed.

I would suggest you to check the Request workflow if there is any customization.

Is this happening for all the order guides? If yes you can add wait for condition in RITM workflows to check if parent request is approved.

Is it possible to get values from the Request workflow into the RITM workflow? - Request workflow runs on sc_request and RITM workflow runs on sc_req_item table, Ideally it's not possible to transfer the values between the workflows, Instead creating flag on RITM form and check that value from the RITM.
