I'm looking to record important dates against ci's. At the moment the scope would be business services. But I'm talking about things like peak periods, marketing campaigns etc. These are dates that we may want to use in our Change risk calculations, or incident management processes. Ideally I'd like to record these in a way that we can leverage for automation in the future in the form of calendar entries. Has anyone done anything like this before? Our fall back position is a free-text field.

What is your goal? To alert people when a change to a CI is done, or when Incidents are raised during a peak period?
I would just create an 'important dates' schedule where you can add those dates and create your required logic through flows/rules/automation. Like check for that schedule when a change is created.
We're missing a lot of information, because I can't imagine it would be important that maintenance on a storage server affects a marketing campaign for a new product that isn't related to that server at all. So that needs to be part of the logic you apply later. But as a start: create that schedule and reference to it when something happens to a CI that is important (checkbox on CI level??)
