Wondering if anyone knows for sure or can point me to some documentation. Is Global Text Search (the magifying glass in the top right corner of the browser) only available for ITIL users? Can a non-itil user do a search like that? I'm on Helsinki - and just looking to confirm. Can't seem to find any documentation that says definitively but testing is showing that only ITIL can see/use the global search function.

Take a look at the system property "glide.ui.can_search" ... it's a comma-separated list of roles that can use Global Search.
You will also need to configure the search groups (System Definition > Search Groups).
