Working for a partner versus a customer will have varying degrees on the importance of obtaining and maintaining certifications.  In speaking of terms of interviewing with ServiceNow customers, different organizations place different levels of importance on having certifications. That being said, if you have the time to study and take free Micro-certifications, or even some of the free mainline certifications in areas that you're interested in or want to grow into, it is never a waste of time, and will ultimately be important to you in your personal career growth.  In the case that you're not applying for a job and are unsure if you should supplement your current job, more than likely you're going to be asked to explore or implement a new area of the platform, such as Automated Test Framework, and having the Micro-certification or training under your belt will make it a less painful process and provide more value to the company.  In past experience on being on the other side of the interview table, where I was interviewing candidates, I did take certifications into account. Certifications did not make the decision on whether the candidate was qualified for the job, just that they were one indicator (there are others) that the candidate was willing to learn and spend their time challenging themselves in different areas of the platform.  Deltas also ensure those candidates are keeping up to date on new areas of the platform. Hope this helps!

Hello,

Truly ANY certification is a benefit FOR YOU.

When I'm interviewing people and they have a cert, ok, clap clap...good for you, but it's about your true experience. So while having certain certs gets the conversation started (your resume looked at an passing the initial inspection), it does NOT guarantee a job. At least for people like myself who ask far more technical questions and do code style interviews than just freely handing out jobs.

So...overall, yes, it is useful, because "hopefully" that means you've learned something or at the very minimum been exposed to it.

But to experienced people...a micro cert is an unproctored test...so...take that for what it's worth.

If given the opportunity, I'd get as many as I could, but again...there's a bit less weight on those compared to mainline certifications.
