ITSM process for items like Service Catalog items or CMDB tables

Hi,
I have a use-case where we consider implementing ITSM processes like Incident and Change management. Nothing special but ........ in these processes a special kind of CI's should be selectable like:
- Service Catalog Items
- CMDB tables
- CSDM tables
- Other 'non it but used in it' elements
What do we want to achieve? Users that are used to ITSM processes can use the same processes on the elements mentioned above.
Example: Creation of an INCident on a Service Catalog Item when it's not doing what it should do; Creation of an IDEA to add an attribute to a certain CSDM or CMDB table where later on in the process a STRY for development and a CHG for deployment should be created on this same table.
Has anyone suggestions on this? Is the solution as simple as create a custom cmdb_ci table to register the elements? What are better solution suggestions here?
Hope the use-case is clear and someone has already implemented something in this area.
