Restrict duplicate CI's name from the Configuration item field on Incidents form

Hi 
we have a list of CI classes available for selection on Incident form on Configuration item field, one of the class is "Software Installations" which has many CI's with the same name.
Now can we restrict for same name CI's to only show once on the Incident reference field which is the latest version one and the one which is operational?
 For eg: Google Chrome has multiple entries in the Software instance table, so we need to show only one entry of 'Google Chrome' in the CI list with the latest version, Similarly for all CI's we need to show only Installed CI's and filter out the Retired CI's from the list.

I believe by default the Retired CI's are not visible on the incident and problem tables.
Can you please check the reference qualifier is still present in your CI field.

you need to create a  betterreference qualifer to short and filter the record.
