Standard Change Template Concept

Hi community,

What I want to implement is just guiding SMEs to use easier.

I know there is a Toggle button in change form, but it needs a few steps to adopt.

So I created a few change templates which can be seen directly in "Create Change" in the form of Card Shape.

I finally succeed to create Normal Model Change Template, but I'm wondering why there's only Standard Change Template in OOB excluding Normal or Emergency.

Is there anyone who can explain the reason why what I can create is only Standard Change Template in OOB?

I think there should be processes which needs approval, thus there should be Normal Change Template as OOB.

There are 2 things in change template

- Templates -- Which you can use from toggle on Change form, that only and only applicable for Normal and emergency changes, it is like where you / requestor know few information is similar in nature and use templates. These Templates don't required any approval while creation.

Standard change: These are templates which need the approval [ First these are proposal and once approved become template]. The approval is required bcz these are reparative in nature and if fail can cause issue as well. So when these proposal trigger approval, the approver review the whole proposal and then approved to be use in future.

I have additional questions regarding templates.

1. You mentioned that the Toggle Template can be used in Normal and Emergency change for a few information, so I understood the difference between Template Module and Toggle Template feature. Still, I can see the "Toggle Template" in Standard Template. I'm not sure that the Toggle Template only apply to Normal and Emergency Changes.

2. I understand the difference between Normal and Standard Changes, especially when it comes to the process. However, I want to create a Normal Template using Change Templates just as Standard Change Templates because I need to have a recurring task that requires approval. In that moment, I have a curiosity why there is only Standard Change Template.

Since I have created Normal Change Template by modifying the Standard Change Template, if you could just explain the why part, I would appreciate it.

For 1st :  I am not sure why it is there, logically the toggle template should not be there for standard changes. As it is OOTB, so we can hide it. 

For 2nd: NO, we cant create normal template as standard change template. You can create Normal change template via System --> Templates module which dont required any approval, but if you raised a change i.e. Normal than it wil go for Assess/ auth approval. 

You can look in to change model as well for your purpose.
