The Calendar component in UI Builder is hot garbage, prove me wrong!

I have been looking into the Calendar component in the UI Builder for a few days and it just does not work.  Here is the default Component with default settings.

I click Save and it previews just fine.

Here is where the fun starts.  I click Edit events on the Calendar component and the dialog appears:

I remove the u from the word menu, click Apply, Save, and then preview.  NOTHING COMES UP!!!

Has anyone been able to actually use this component?  I tried to follow the You & I YouTube video and I could not make that work.  I decided to try more simple edits of just changing string values in the Events property and that is not happening either.

Hi, I'm trying to setup Calendar component to show an integrated view of blackout period, maintenance period, changes scheduled, and business peak / critical events. However, after spending a few days and going through some online reference materials and videos, I'm unable to make it work 😞 

Can you please share your experience setting up calendar component and steps you followed to make it work?
