Unable to map JIRA Custom fields

We are currently working on a bi-directional Jira integration that requires mapping ServiceNow variables to Jira custom fields. When using the Create Issue action from the out-of-the-box Jira Spoke, mapping these fields results in an Atlassian data format error, and the ticket fails to be created. The integration works when mapping to the Jira description field, but field-to-field mappings do not.
