What is the difference between the "parent" field and the "parent incident" field for incidents?

On the incident form there are two tabs at the bottom that appear to be for related records.  One is "Child Incidents" the other is "Incidents".  The current incident is set as the parent to any incident added on the "Child Incidents" tab via the "parent incident" field.

The number of the current incident is added to the "parent" field of any incident added on the "Incidents" tab.  What is the result of this action?

Thanks.

"Parent" is a column on task.  Some task types define their own specific parent though (like in the case of Incident and Parent Incident), in order not to conflict with other functionality.

Parent --point to Task Table it willl be used to associate with any Task - change, problen,Request etc

Parent Incident -- points to INC table it can associate only with INC records
