Abstract:
Vulnerability Response sounds like (and is) a great thing, but it turns out that most modern vulnerability scanning systems assume a very different environment than the wild west of the typical higher education IT environment. They assume things like static IP addresses, centralized management of devices, and well-trained system admins managing carefully tracked assets. In reality, many higher ed IT environments are highly decentralized, BYOD is rampant, NAT (on steroids) supports a tremendous number and diverseness of devices, and administrators are far-flung throughout the user population and have vastly differing levels of expertise. So how do you make these traditional vulnerability scanning platforms work in this lawless land that is far from civilized life? In this session, you'll learn how ServiceNow integrates with your third-party vulnerability scanning platform, and how to customize the ServiceNow out-of-the-box workflows and processes to meet your unique needs.
