Knowledge Base ownership groups

Hi all,

Does anyone know if ownership groups and assignment groups are the same or different? Just trying to get a better understanding of how our knowledge base is set up as I've only recently taken over management of it.

Thanks,

Charlotte.

One way Ownership groups vs. Assignment groups:

Can we use assignment groups AS ownership groups? They're going to be the same. We have the assignment groups set up already. I'm looking at https://docs.servicenow.com/bundle/utah-servicenow-platform/page/product/knowledge-management/task/c...

It says

Note: You can also create an ownership group from an existing group.
  1. Navigate to System Security > Users and Groups > Groups.
  2. Click a group.
  3. In the Type field, enter Knowledge.
Note: If the Type field does not appear on the form, configure the form layout to add it.
  4. In the Manager field, enter a manager and add the role knowledge_group_manager.
  5. In the Roles related list, click Edit and add the role knowledge_group_member to the group.

But I'm stuck on D and E, because I only see one spot to add roles (at the bottom under Roles, which is next to Group Members).

Can you help?

Thanks Karen!

Hi All, I have the same question as Karen, and I didn't really see a response that describes the differences between knowledge ownership groups and assignment groups. I realize that assignment groups allow for INC or REQ assignable. We have the Ownership Group field as required on our KB articles, but I notice that most of our Ownership Groups today are pointing to Assignment Groups. I would prefer to move us to create knowledge Ownership Groups if that is beneficial. Specifically I am receiving Approval Workflow questions that I would like to solve for.
