Navigating serviceNow

Hello, I started learning Technical project management on ServiceNow, and I find it quite difficult to access the Now portal. I mean the actual platform where I can practice all that I am learning on the platform.  How do I go about that? @Servicenow

Hi @Favour ,
It sounds like you are looking for a sandbox environment. ServiceNow provides free
Personal Developer Instances (PDIs) exactly for learners like you.

Steps to get one:

  1. Go to the Developer Portal: Visit ServiceNow Developer Portal

  2. Sign Up: Create a free account (use your personal email if you want to keep it long-term).

  3. Request an Instance: Once logged in, look for the "Request Instance" button in the header. It will spin up a full ServiceNow instance for you in a few minutes.

  4. Install the SPM Apps: Out of the box, the instance is pretty empty. Since you are learning Project Management, search for "Plugins" in your new instance and install Strategic Portfolio Management (SPM) (formerly ITBM) or Project Portfolio Management.

Pro Tip: PDIs go to "sleep" if you don't use them for 10 days, so just log in once in a while to keep it active.

Thanks & Regards,

Hi @Favour,

I just wanted to add to what @miftikhar20 shared, his response is really helpful and points you in the right direction. The Personal Developer Instance (PDI) he mentioned is exactly what most learners use to get hands-on experience with the Now platform. I also picked up a couple of useful tips from his explanation.

As a fellow learner, to make it a bit easier when you get your instance, I would suggest starting with the basics first, explore the interface, try creating a simple project or task, and don’t worry about getting everything perfect. The goal at this stage is just to become comfortable navigating the platform.

Thanks again to @miftikhar20 for the clear guidance.
