Hi @AshwiniRamesh23

Greetings!

I am a ServiceNow trainer and would be happy to guide you.

ServiceNow is expanding both in depth and breadth these days, so moving forward, career planning needs to be done very carefully.

Anyone who wants to start their career in ServiceNow should begin with the basics—ServiceNow Administration. This helps participants understand the platform, terminology, core concepts, architecture, and foundational knowledge that is used across all ServiceNow products. At this stage, you can prepare for the CSA (Certified System Administrator) certification. There are dedicated CSA courses available on Now Learning, either as individual courses or guided learning journeys—you can choose what suits you best.

After completing CSA, the next step depends on the direction you want to take—development or a specific product specialization.
If you want to move into development, CAD (Certified Application Developer) is the next step. This focuses on development concepts, scripting, and other coding-related aspects of ServiceNow.

After that, you can choose any product based on your interest and demand, such as ITSM (which is widely required), CSM, HRSD, GRC, or any other ServiceNow product, and continue growing in that direction.

As a foundation, CSA → CAD is a good path to follow.

Additionally, if you do not want to go into development, there are other career options such as Business Analyst (BA), Business Process Consultant (BPC) (I am a BPC), Technical Support Specialist, or Change Manager (OCM).

Hi @AshwiniRamesh23

Firstly Welcome to World of ServiceNow !

I'd be happy to help you improve your ServiceNow skills! Here are some practical suggestions tailored for the ServiceNow community:

Build Your Foundation Start with ServiceNow's official learning platform - Now Learning. Complete the fundamental courses on the platform basics, including navigation, lists, forms, and the core applications like Incident, Problem, and Change Management. Understanding these fundamentals will give you the context you need for everything else.

Get Hands-On Practice Request a Personal Developer Instance (PDI) from the ServiceNow Developer site. This free instance lets you experiment without breaking anything. Practice creating custom applications, building workflows, and configuring the platform. The more you actually do in the system, the faster you'll learn.

Focus on Key Technical Skills Learn JavaScript thoroughly since it's the backbone of ServiceNow development. Get comfortable with GlideRecord for database operations, Client Scripts for form behavior, Business Rules for server-side logic, and Script Includes for reusable code. Understanding when to use client-side versus server-side scripting is crucial.

Engage with the Community Join the ServiceNow Community forums and participate actively. Ask questions, answer others' questions when you can, and read through existing discussions. Follow ServiceNow blogs, join local user groups, and attend Knowledge conferences if possible. The community is incredibly helpful and you'll learn real-world solutions to common problems.

Work on Real Projects Try to build small projects that solve actual problems. Create a simple application from scratch, automate a workflow, or customize existing functionality. Document what you build and share it with the community - this builds your portfolio and helps others learn too.

Stay Current ServiceNow releases updates multiple times per year. Follow the release notes, understand what's deprecated, and learn about new features. This keeps your skills relevant and marketable.

if my response helps, kindly mark it helpful & Accept as Solution 🙂

Warm Regards
