With the same KBid, ca we switch from a template to another ?

Hi,

For those who use different templates, once a KB article is published, can you switch from one template to another ?

Use case:

Article created with the QA template, fields:  Question and Answer

Then this article is seems to be more a break and fix issue, we want to use the Breakfix template with fields: Issue and Solution

Do I need to create a new KB or there is a way to reload the KB with the new template and copy the content of the fields ?

Thanks

Rene

“I don’t think so. You need to start from scratch and create a new Knowledge article. Template selection is the first step in the Knowledge article creation process.

Hi Rene

If I were your shoes, I would simply enable article replacement when retired, create ad publish the new article and finally retire the old one providing reference to the new one. This will become more complicated in case of article with connected translations.

Hi Rene,

Every so often, we have to change the template.  If you try to change the template in the knowledge creation form, your work will be lost/overridden.  However, we will go to the source code, remove the html for the current template, and paste in the source code for the new template.  Your content will stay; you may need to do some reformatting, but everything remains there.
