I have some questions on a couple items that were discussed.

  1. When Semhar was discussing both the update set and cloning processes; he stated if the source instance was upgraded, the target instance would automatically be upgraded. Is this true just for cloning or both cloning and update sets?
  2. Using Service Watch; is it possible to map out the relationship of the Print Server to the queue and then to the printer (like a hierarchy)? Or is the mapping tool intended for flat mapping only?
  3. Could you provide the slides that were used?

Helen,

Clones cause that version change. Update sets do not.

ServiceWatch Mapping is designed for hierarchical mapping of business services. I'm not 100% sure if Mapping or traditional discovery are the best tool for printers to print queue mapping. I will ask davideastwood to work with you on this!

Helen, when you do a clone the target instance version will be matched to the source instance. Update sets are not affected by this process.

Helen,

I looked into this after our discussion on Tuesday. Printer discovery is handled by 'traditional' discovery, rather than Service Mapping. I'll look into the specific question you have elsewhere in the community, and see if I can get an answer for you.

David
