Asset Management resources for institutions who do not have HAM Pro

We're an institution who does not have HAM pro, nor do I think it's in our budget in the near future.  With several institutions sharing one instance of ServiceNow, as we mature in our SN asset management, we may find need in the future.

That said, are there articles, resources, etc. for ensuring we're setting up the correct tables with the correct data? The bi-weekly HAM seminars, though valuable, seem to focus on setting up / configuring/ using HAM pro. (I can't wait for us to utilize it, however!)

Thank you,

While I haven't used HAM Pro, I'd bet that sticking with CSDM would be a good start:

Good Morning David,

Our company managed without HAM Pro for many years.  Our fulfillment process was customized using record producers, order guides, business rules, Flows and notifications.  There are a few things to think through regarding fields on the table (which ones to put field validation on, which ones to turn to read only as soon as there's a value populated) also, ensure you try to follow best practices in order to be prepared for eventual HAM Pro implementation.

It's best to make sure you start with some business specific process flow diagrams (fulfillment, returns/swaps, RMA, recurring inventory, retirement) to ensure you've thought through all the tables/fields support needed (and all necessary foundational data (equipment models, manufacturers, model categories, etc.), and that what tables you do use are configured to ensure processes operate without introducing unnecessary tech debt or rework down the road.
