In order to convert one currency into another, a user chooses the currency he/she wishes to check the monetary value of (e.g. United States Dollar). After that, the user selects one other currency, he/she would like to see the result in. The application software then calculates and displays the corresponding amount of money.
Simple Navigation
STEP 1: Select the "From Currency" and "To Currency" from the list of dropdown options.
STEP 2: Click on Submit button and the current market value is displayed on the redirected list layout view.
Implementation
Currency data needs to be pushed from ServiceNow to 3rd party online web service to get the current market value. Here are the steps to be followed to set it up:
- Create a new Outbound SOAP Message with the currency web service URL to get the corresponding SOAP Message functions associated with it.
- The 2 parameters required are source currency code and target currency code to get the result currency value.
- Create your custom script include using SOAP APIs to access it from anywhere inside ServiceNow. All you need is to pass the 2 parameter values and get the response back.
