Global search in Next Experience - find the Search Application Config [sys_search_context_config]

Hello everyone,

ServiceNow has identified potential knowledge gap in administering Text Search on current instance families.  Basically, when you examine Search Application Configurations table (AI Search > Search Experience > Search Applications) you are presented a list of [sys_search_context_config] records.  Working with these records to set up search sources, search profiles, etc... is well documented.  But, it is not clear in the context of Global Search... When you perform Global Search, or select an alternative context option from the Global Search dropdown, how can you find which search source (search app config) is utilizes?

Therefore, the following knowledge article was recently published to help at a fundamental level.  Since there is no handy reference field or o2m/m2m mapping, the mapping is done from the experience level, housed within UX Page Registry and UX Page Option tables.  This means the simplest and most intuitive way to examine and discover the search app ID used in Next Experience is by check via UI Builder.  That may sound more confusing than it is, but once you run through the KB, I hope it helps understand how navigating UI Builder's Experience settings will help you quickly identify which Search App Config record is targeted by your Global and other Experience Searches.
