Hardware Asset Normalization for Custom Models

I am aware you can add a custom hardware model (and custom hardware product) in Hardware Asset Management.

1. What is the purpose of creating a custom hardware model, when you can create a model on cmdb_hardware_product_model

2. Can custom made products and models be normalized?
