How to configure variant page for audience in SOW?

Hi,

I am working on configuring a variant page in Service Operations Workspace, for a specific itil group audience.

I want to show only the ritms and inc assigned to their group. They will not be working with catalog tasks for example.

When looking at the product documentation Modify the first-level cards in the Overview section (servicenow.com) I see no way to change this for a specific variant of a page, in order to tailor this to an audience.

Can you please help me clarify how to do this?

If it is not possible, then what is the meaning of variants?

Thank you for your time.

Sure, I can help you with that. Here are the steps to configure a variant page in Service Operations Workspace for a specific ITIL group audience:

1. Navigate to Service Operations Workspace.
2. Click on the gear icon on the top right corner to open the configuration settings.
3. Click on "Manage Variants".
4. Click on "New" to create a new variant.
5. In the "Audience" field, select the specific ITIL group for which you want to create the variant.
6. In the "Conditions" field, specify the conditions that the records must meet to be included in the variant. For example, you can specify that only RITMs and INCs assigned to the selected ITIL group should be included.
7. Click on "Save".

Now, regarding your question about the meaning of variants, variants in ServiceNow are used to create different versions of a page that are tailored to specific audiences. Each variant can have different conditions, layouts, and components, allowing you to customize the page to meet the needs of the selected audience.

However, it's important to note that the ability to modify the first-level cards in the Overview section is not currently available for variants. This is a limitation of the current version of ServiceNow. The first-level cards are part of the base layout of the page and cannot be modified for individual variants.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hi Rajdeep,

Thank you very much!

Clearing up about modifying the first-levels cards is helpful - at least I now know to stop looking for a method that doesn't exist.

Do you know how to configure the first levels cards to show requested items or tasks?

I have managed to update the card to show ritms assigned to me:

But clicking the donut does not update the list below (like with the standard incident cards).

I don't know how to get an evamId. Even the script for the standard incident cards contains an evamId that I can't find anywhere, not even in the evam definitions.
