Theme Builder not showing custom themes

Hi there!

When I make a custom theme, it's available for editing through Theme Builder as long as I do not add a variant to it. As soon as I do, it no longer appears as an option in the Builder. Removing the Variant from the theme does not bring it back.

Has anyone else experienced or fixed this?

Thanks! Kristin

Hi,

There is no way around this at the moment, Theme Builder does not currently support (as of Utah) Custom Themes with variants. See documentation here which states this:

https://docs.servicenow.com/en-US/bundle/utah-platform-user-interface/page/administer/navigation-and...

Hi there! The specific thing happening here is that Theme Builder cannot edit themes created outside of itself. It creates a specific record on a table to link to that theme and say "Hey i can edit this!" - and that record isn't created when you create a theme manually.

As of Vancouver, you can now create Alternate Color Palettes (new name for Variants) within Theme Builder itself so it's become a tad easier now.

Thanks for the reply, Paul. I had interpreted that documentation to mean that it didn't support working on the actual variant, but I can see now what it means...if a theme contains a variant it can't be edited within the builder.

I knew the Polaris OOB has a Dark Mode variant and it shows up in Builder..but since that's not custom I assume now that's the difference!

Thanks for the nudge in my thinking...have a great day!
