Once an individual attains the CSA cert, is the next required cert the CIS-ITSM?   Must an individual attain the CIS-ITSM prior to qualifying to sit for the CIS-VR exam?

I totally agree. I was confirming your answer, while providing some additional tidbits.

You're right the current wording is confusing.

"However, my point was in the CIS-VR Blueprint states the "required" exams are CIS-ITSM" - that's not what it states.

https://www.servicenow.com/content/dam/servicenow/other-documents/training/cis-vr-blueprint.pdf says:

"ServiceNow recommends completion of the following prerequisites in preparation for the ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist - Vulnerability Response exam"

Following back from the course:

  • it's recommended to have CIS knowledge to cover SAIF, SoW, aspects about engagement, project management, understanding deployment roles etc.
  • it's recommended to have SysAdmin prior to CIS so you've got navigation and configuration basics under your belt
  • knowledge of scripting (script includes) plus deployment concerns (update sets, etc) is an advantage.

CIS-ITSM is definitely NOT a prerequisite for VR, but there's an implied assumption you're aware of service management concepts in your position as an implementation consultant - given that your end goal is delivery of value to your customer.
