Hello!
I'm new to VR module.
I know that for Vulnerable Items, you can set the remediation target using 'Remediation Target Rules'. However, the Remediation Target Rules utilize the 'last opened' field and a user defined number of days to set the remediation target.
However, our requirement is to manually set particular Target Rule and date for a VI.
For EG for a vulnerable item below we want to change the remediation target date and rule manually to extreme. meaning it should be resolve within 2 days? also is it best practice or there is a better way?
Thanks!

While directly editing the date is possible, it is not a recommended practice. This approach can lead to inconsistent target-setting across the organization, making it harder to enforce and report on SLAs. The primary purpose of Remediation Target Rules is to ensure this consistency, and manual edits undermine that objective.
Furthermore, the automated "Evaluate remediation targets" job runs daily and will likely reset any manually entered date if the conditions of a remediation target rule are met again, negating the change.

Hi,
By default, Remediation Target Rules in the VR module automatically calculate the remediation target based on the “last opened” date and the configured SLA. If you need to manually set a specific target date and rule for a Vulnerable Item, you can override it directly on the VI record by editing the Remediation Target Rule and Target Date fields. While this is possible, it’s generally not considered best practice for large-scale management, as it bypasses standard SLAs and automation. A better approach is to create a custom rule or exception that applies only to specific VIs needing accelerated resolution, maintaining consistency and reporting accuracy.
