ServiceNow Intune configuration - failing/stuck on create scheduled import step

Using the guided setup screens, I'm on the step: Create Data Sources and Scheduled Import Jobs
On that screen, using using the search function for: Connection and Credential Alias
Nothing is found.
I previously did this in my sandbox instance as a proof-of-concept and had same problem, but got around it by making a second connection, even though we only have one Intune source. In other words, in addition to updating the default connection, as instructed by the guided setup, I created an identical second connection with a different name and alias, and that enabled me to get past the issue described above.
Am I doing something wrong here, or is this just something one must do to get the install to work?
