SGC for Azure setup: "Save credential failed – Cannot set parent alias… Alias is a child alias" when

Hello everyone,

I'm setting up Service Graph Connector for Microsoft Azure using the guided setup in SGC Central, and I'm stuck at the "Create and test software connection" step. I'd appreciate any advice.

What I did

1. Completed the prerequisites and the hardware connection steps. The hardware connection (PoC_SGC_for_Azure_...) was created and tested successfully.
2. Completed "Configure connection property" and "Configure hardware import schedule".
3. In "Create and test software connection", I entered the software connection name (SGC_for_Azure_software), Connection URL, OAuth client ID, client secret, and token URL, then clicked "Update and test connection".

Errors

Save credential failed
Reason: Unable to create child alias for parent with id: 042bd6072b234354552eff304391bf20
Detail: Cannot set parent alias to id: sn_sg_azure_integ.SGC_for_Azure_software. Alias is a child alias.

Test connection failed.
Reason: Failed to find Service graph connection record.

My understanding / questions
It looks like the setup is trying to use the software connection alias (sn_sg_azure_integ.SGC_for_Azure_software) as a parent alias, but that alias already exists as a child alias. Because of this, the credential cannot be saved, and the connection test fails.

1. What is the root cause of this error? Could it be caused by leftover records from a previous setup attempt?
2. What is the recommended way to resolve it? For example, should I delete or fix specific records in the Connection & Credential Aliases [sys_alias], Connections, or Credentials tables before retrying?
3. Is this a known issue with a specific version of the connector, and is there a KB article or fix available?
