CV management on ServiceNow?

We're exploring possibility to use ServiceNow for CV management:

  • creating new CV's
  • uploading existing CV's in bulk
  • querying CV's in the repository, based on a number of criteria
  • exporting CV's in different formats, based on templates

Anybody any experience in using ServiceNow for that purpose?

I can't seem to make out whether the HR Service Management Solution covers this out of the box or not.

Any interesting input / ideas?

May be you can look at customizing Knowledge Management.

It wouldn't be out-of-the-box functionality in the HR module, but you could create it as a custom app. I know there are SN customers who have implemented their own recruiting workflows in ServiceNow. As Abhiram says, you could think about Knowledge Management as a starting point (or perhaps document management), or it could be extended from and using workflow build around the out-of-the-box HR task workflow. It depends on how you forsee the desired UX.

Hi Geert, we have done something similar as part of our HR Case Management Application (extended from ServiceNow's HR App plugin). Our IP has evolved over the past 3 years and has the core functionality you are discussing from your points above. It includes an e-document repository, document template management and document creation engine.




Our e-document repository allows HR to store/retrieve any type of HR related (secure and non-secure) documents which interact with HR case records (incl. archiving) all in the comfort of their ServiceNow instance. We have also included a flexible template management and document creation engine, which allows our users to be able to create MS Word documents via their own managed templates (incl. their own headers/footers and format/template types) from any HR Case record.



So it shouldn't be too difficult to enable what you are looking for. However, it is not an OOTB feature. Also, as Guy mentioned above, does your overall HR Recruitment process needs to be analysed as part of the overall objective? CV Management falls primarily under the Recruitment process, especially around talent management and talent processing. Our HR Case Management also factors in end-to-end recruitment, from requisition approvals to on-boarding.

Thanks for your useful input.


We're not looking at analyzing or optimizing our overall HR Recruitment process at this point.


Given the business we're in, we are dealing with CV's very intensively day in day out, not as part of our company's own HR process, but as part of our pre-sales and delivery processes.


We need to be able to input / upload and maintain CV's into a CV database efficiently.


We need to be able to very efficiently search CV's in a CV database, based on all kinds of search criteria.


We need to be able to produce CV's in all kinds of different formats and templates, depending on the specific opportunity.



Currently quite some of this work is manual, and we're looking to automate that to great extent.



We have the developer resources with ServiceNow expertise in-house, but were looking for some guidance / experience / advise from others who have already done this on ServiceNow platform.
