Encrypt Attachment? (from Service Portal): Is it usefull and why?

Hi there,

What is the encryption- functionality as seen here below (while uploading attachment into  a Service Portal request form) and how does it work?

It encrypts (if chosen), the filename in AES256 and nothing more than that? What are the cons of encrypting the filename, is it even usefull? And how to get rid of this functionality and is it recommended to disable it?

Thanks and all best,

Hi @AdamUMC ,

Encryption used to secure the data like PI information and financials information so that target audience can only view those details. Lets say you all data are stored in database but the person who has db access can query the data from table and see the info if you have done db level encryption then even DBA can not see the actual information which stored.

Attachment encryption should we do usually if you are attaching some financial data or some confidential information which you dont want to share with other team. Like your pay slip, company confidential file...
