Will upgrading affect my open update sets?

I am planning to upgrade my instances to Tokyo, starting with Dev.

Do I need to back up anything in particular prior to upgrade? Can I leave my update sets in "In Progress"? Will any of my installed apps, current development, be removed/erased after upgrading?

You only need to export and re-import any update sets that will not come back down with the clone. If you have that many update sets in progress, I would see if it's possible to hold off until you're done with your work.

Hello @Pat Surtan 

Suppose you are planning upgrade for DEV Environment, then firstly the update sets which are not yet moved to higher environments yet, take XML of all those update sets.

Based on your question I understand that there is some update set which is in progress.. so complete that update set and take XML for it.. Load it again after your upgrade.
