Visual Task Boards are standard practice for an implementation project. Often, teams find value in using NowCreate Starter Stories as a resource to quickly put together VTB Cards to track the project's progress. However, getting to that point can be cumbersome - you have to make the board, make your lanes, and create the individual VTB cards!

Simplify and streamline this process by automating everything from start to finish!

Version 1.0 is here!

The attached update set contains the necessary components to automate the complete implementation project VTB stand-up process via utilization of an inbound action!

Functionality includes:

  • Creating a VTB based on the inbound email subject and setting the Sender as the owner
  • Creating 10 VTB Lanes under the board following standard implementation practices
    • Documentation
    • Client Follow-Up
    • Review
    • Ready for Build
    • WIP
    • Unit Testing
    • Prototype
    • Client UAT
    • Complete
    • Future Considerations
  • Creating a data source based on an attached XLS/XLSX file and associating it with a defined transform map for creating the Private Tasks
  • Creating VTB Cards for each Private Task within the Documentation lane

Usage:

  1. Load the update set to your instance
  2. Populate the template VTB Card Template file with your stories or whatever else you want the cards to hold
  3. Email the file to your instance
  4. Wait a few minutes
  5. Find your new VTB has been created and cards populated

The file VTB Card Template.xlsx included below and on the GitHub repository should be used as your template for the email attachment when sending an email to your instance. The columns VTB and Lane are hidden and do not need to be filled in - these are populated via script.
