Hello everyone,

I am a MERN developer with 1.4 years of experience and I am planning to transition into a ServiceNow Developer role.

Could you please guide me on the following:

1. Is ITSM the correct starting point for someone new to ServiceNow?

2. What would be the best beginner-to-job-ready learning path for a developer with JavaScript experience?

3. How much PDI hands-on practice is usually recommended before applying for roles?

4. With 1.4 years of prior development experience (India), is it possible to get interview calls for junior ServiceNow Developer or Admin roles after learning the basics?

Thank you so much for your time and guidance.

Hi @SudhanshuO,

welcome to the Platform of platforms!

  1. ITSM is usually "starting" module because it's always present, you cannot have a ServiceNow instance without ITSM. So it makes sense to understand this and then extend your skills and knowledge with other modules
  2. Shared below
  3. No universal answer, depending on what role do you apply for and other factors (different requirements for a junior developer or project manager, ...).
  4. Cannot be answered because somebody can be ready for an architect after 1.4 years experience, somebody needs more time. So the time is not an indicator for a job market positioning. IMO if there's an open junior position, then go and try your luck!

Let me use this opportunity to share with you these resources. There are two great places to start:

1. ServiceNow University

2. Developer Portal
