Hello,
Fifteen years of experience in business development in IT services companies, and I want to make a transition in my career into a ServiceNow system administrator, ServiceNow support, or business analyst (which is non-technical). What is the opportunity for me in India, Kolkata location, and what is the global opportunity remotely if I achieve the certification?

Hi @SubrataA
Being a ServiceNow trainer and someone who has worked deeply as a BA and BPC, I’m happy to share my thoughts on this.
As you mentioned, you already have good years of experience, which clearly shows that you understand how the industry works. Right now, the only challenge seems to be your transition into ServiceNow.
I would not say that a BA role is non-technical. A BA is more focused on the functional side, where we deal with customers daily, understand their requirements, and also participate in technical discussions with architects, developers, and technical teams.
How to Start
The best starting point in ServiceNow is CSA (Certified System Administrator), which is basically the Admin path. This gives you a deep understanding of the platform, its capabilities, components, and the terminology that you will use in day-to-day work.
After completing this, I would strongly recommend following the Business Analyst journey available in Now Learning. It provides a proper roadmap and helps you move forward in the right direction.
Job Opportunities
Yes, there are definitely opportunities in the market. However, with only CSA, it may be difficult initially to secure a role directly as a BA or BPC because these are customer-facing roles. We should have knowledge of at least 2–3 modules so that we can demonstrate our portfolio and practical understanding.
After CSA, I would also suggest taking implementation-related courses. I am not only talking about certifications — training and real understanding are more important first. Try to understand projects, implementation approaches, and customer scenarios before focusing heavily on certifications.
Once you gain that confidence and understanding, certifications will naturally add more value to your profile.
Hope this information is helpful for you.
