The ServiceNow Store offers a wide range of apps and plugins, and navigating it effectively starts with understanding the key terms you’ll encounter. These terms appear across search results, application pages, and banners throughout the interface.

Procure, entitled, eligibility? Let’s clear up some terms

  • Procure, entitle

Used interchangeably, these terms mean get or acquire, as in, to get an app. This action establishes a backend connection with your instance and the app, if the app is already included in your contract. This step is necessary to avoid accidental app installation on a production instance without non-production testing. These terms do not imply the need for purchase.

  • Eligible, not eligible

A product suite page has two tabs that list which apps within the suite are in your contract and mapped to your instance.

  • Free

This tag means what it says: You don’t need to purchase a license.

  • Paid

This tag means the application requires purchase and licensing before installation. It will always show the Paid tag even if you already purchased the app. The application page gives more details.

  • Product

This yellow tag indicates that this is a product suite consisting of several separate apps; each app may have its own technical requirements, dependencies on other apps or plugins, and its own entitlement rules.

  •  In Product

This black tag represents a single application that is part of a larger product suite, and may have its own rules for obtaining and installing the app

  • Dependency

These applications are part of a main Store app and are intended to be procured with the main app. However, if they are not procured together, you need to procure them manually by selecting the application name in the main app dependency list on ServiceNow Store.  Dependent apps are not findable (i.e., they’re hidden) on the Store.
