Hi @MohammedAzP
As you mentioned, you have 12 years of experience, and I assume most of that experience is on the technical/infrastructure side. Based on that background, you can certainly start your ServiceNow journey.
I have already shared my thoughts in my previous reply, which should help you evaluate the options and make an informed decision.
Your existing experience will definitely be beneficial, especially since you are coming from an infrastructure background. However, to enter the ServiceNow ecosystem, I would recommend starting with the CSA (Certified System Administrator) certification, as it provides the foundational knowledge of the platform.
After completing CSA, you can choose a specialization based on your interests:
- ITOM (IT Operations Management) – a good fit if you want to leverage your infrastructure and operations experience.
- BPC/BA (Business Process Consultant / Business Analyst) path – if you are interested in a more functional and process-oriented role.
I would also recommend reviewing the ServiceNow Career Journeys available on the Now Learning portal to better understand the available career paths and certification roadmap.
Please let us know if you need any further clarification or guidance. We would be happy to help.

Hi @MohammedAzP
Moving from Windows Network Administration into the ServiceNow ecosystem can be a very good move, especially because your 12 years of IT infrastructure experience is highly relevant.
You will not be treated as a complete fresher. Your experience in networking, Windows administration, incident handling, change management, troubleshooting, user support, access management, and IT operations will definitely add value. However, in ServiceNow specifically, you may be considered new to the platform until you gain hands-on experience and certifications.
The best path for you would be:
- Start with ServiceNow Certified System Administrator - CSA.
- Learn ITSM, because it connects strongly with your IT support and infrastructure background.
- Later, move toward ITOM, Discovery, CMDB, Service Mapping, or Integration, where your network/admin experience can be a strong advantage.
- Build hands-on practice using a ServiceNow developer instance and create small projects.
So, you may not enter as a senior ServiceNow consultant immediately, but you should not position yourself as a fresher either. You can position yourself as an experienced IT Infrastructure professional transitioning into ServiceNow, targeting roles like ServiceNow Administrator, ITSM Analyst, CMDB/Discovery Analyst, ITOM Support, or ServiceNow Consultant Trainee/Mid-level.
Overall, it is a good career move, provided you are ready to learn the platform seriously and get practical exposure.
