I found it Insightful, As a CSA , our daily work routine starts by checking emails and needs to close pending tasks and attending meetings, taking notes from meetings and working on incidents by doing investigations to resolve open issues.

Some tasks that yoou might run into on a daily basis:

Investigating a broken business rule affecting incident assignments

Triaging assigned tickets

Review dashboards

Review CMDB reports

Misc Admin functions (scripot writing etc...)_

Delegation of tasks (depending on hwo large the org is)

Updating a catalog item workflow

Participating in a Change Advisory Board (CAB) meeting

Fielding phone calls

There are so many to list daily, but the most important one is make yourself useful, and nowhere to look for answers that you may not know the answer to. Don't ever be afraid to say I am not sure, or I don’t know. Always follow up with let me get back to you while some more research is required.

One thing I will say is that being an ServiceNow System Admin will materialize into a plethora of tasks and responsibilities that can differ drastically from place to place. While one company may silo you strictly into admin-related tasks, another may be much more flexible or diverse, allowing you to broaden the scope of your skillsets.

@chriwilliam touches on good points - especially the part about making yourself useful. Having admin access can often given you a window into more possibilities that an end-user or customer even considers. Additionally, end-users making requests for enhancements may not fully appreciate the scale of adding additional features whereas the admin may immediately see where pitfalls could occur and the need to remediate so all parties remain satisfied.

Hi @chriwilliam ,

Thanks buddy for your response

as said by @MBarrott you have touched good points indeed!

However apart from the scripting part i guess all other things could be covered in ITSM module

So i would again request you to enlighten us with points specific to System Admininstration.

Also guide us towards how to plan to learn script ? Share your experience if you have learnt scripting
