What does a “day in the life” of different ServiceNow roles actually look like?

Hi everyone,

I wanted to share something I’ve been working on and get some input from others in the community.

A little while back, I responded to a simple ServiceNow community question about what a ServiceNow admin does on a day to day basis.

That response stuck with me longer than I expected.

Over time, it turned into something bigger. A full “Day in the Life” series exploring different ServiceNow roles from a real-world perspective.

Not job descriptions. Not theory. Just what the work actually looks like.

I ended up covering:

  • System Administrator
  • Developer
  • Business Process Consultant
  • Technical Consultant
  • Architect

Then I stepped back and reflected on what connects all of them.

What stood out:

One thing became pretty clear while writing these.

The roles are different, but the challenges are not.

A lot of the real work across all of them comes down to:

  • alignment
  • clarity
  • making the right decisions early

No matter the role, those things show up in different ways throughout the day.

Discussion

Curious to hear from others.

What does your day to day actually look like in your role?

And which role has been most aligned with your experience so far?
