This month on Last Thursdays with SPM, we heard from Irene Vieth and Ryan Keiser about several key new capabilities for SPM and APM in our Utah release. If you missed the webinar, be sure to check out the recording on our Last Thursdays with SPM playlist.

This great session started off with a discussion of the new Strategic Planning Workspace (fka Alignment Planner Workspace) including a summary of new out-of-the-box lens configurations and two new planning prioritization views: Hierarchy, to view work from multiple perspectives -or lenses- for improved shared insights; and Kanban, to support Lean portfolio planning.

We then jumped into a demo of Strategic Planning Workspace, where Ryan explained how to select from one of six out of the box planning lenses to create a portfolio - and then evaluate the progress of related goals and targets to accomplish organizational plans and drive business outcomes. He also demonstrated the new Kanban view which enables planners to visualize and adjust planning items in vertical lanes and swimlanes, and the Hierarchy view with visibility into the schedule and dependencies between the planning items - allowing planners to easily see (and avoid!) potential conflicts in work.

Irene then discussed updates to Application Portfolio Management and exciting new features including the new Enterprise Architecture Workspace (EA Workspace); updates to the Business Capabilities Hierarchy; and new table definitions for Digital Integration Management.

This was followed with a brief demo of the configurable EA Workspace, where Ryan provided an overview of at-a-glance metrics related to portfolio health; he showcased the Hierarchy map to expose gaps and see further detail into each capability with multiple levels of data; and he reviewed a dashboard with 11 out of the box reports to manage business applications to support critical decision-making.

Next Webinar: On Thursday, April 27, we’ll take it to the next level with a deeper dive into our new Enterprise Architecture Workspace for APM with crowd favorites Greg Sahnd and Lilly Souksamlane. Greg and Lilly will discuss and demo how EA Workspace provides an interactive user interface that enables enterprise architects to stay up to date with their tasks, get insights, and monitor the health of the portfolio - all from a single location. You won’t want to miss this session on Thursday, April 27 so register now!

As always - see you on the next Last Thursdays!
