I understand that ServiceNow offers multiple modules, including PPM and Agile. Is the PPM module designed to support Agile development and projects, or is that functionality intended to be managed solely within the Agile module?

Hi @DeAndreH,
you can use Agile development without PPM and vice versa.
Or they can be used in a combination, do you have any specific use case?

The PPM module allows a demand to be converted into a project upon approval.
Projects can then be executed in Waterfall, Agile, or Hybrid modes. For teams using SAFe Agile, PPM provides a dedicated module that can be leveraged to manage project work. PPM also offers a wide range of integrated features such as dashboards, reporting, and metrics to support project delivery.
In addition, Kanban-style work sequencing can be used outside of project structures. However, this approach does not include the full suite of reporting and metric capabilities that PPM provides for formal projects.

Hi @DeAndreH,
PPM and Agile in ServiceNow aren’t “either/or” ,they’re designed to complement each other.
PPM is for portfolio/project governance: funding, prioritization, timelines, and strategic alignment.
Agile Development is for delivery teams: sprints, stories, epics, and velocity.
You can flag a PPM project as Agile, so the execution is managed in Agile Development while still rolling up to portfolio/financial tracking in PPM.
In short, PPM supports Agile projects, but actual Agile execution happens in the Agile module. Together, they give you visibility from strategy down to sprint work.
Thanks & Regards,
Muhammad Iftikhar
