Calendar events are being created on confirmation of resource plans

Hi Everyone,

I had a question regarding Resource Management behavior in ServiceNow SPM.

When I confirm a Resource Plan, it creates a soft allocation as expected, but it is also generating calendar events/schedule entries for the resource. My understanding was that soft allocations should reserve capacity only and should not create actual calendar events until a hard/committed allocation stage.

FYI - I am using legacy Resource Plans.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Hi @maliksneha9 ,

Your understanding is correct. Soft allocations are intended to reserve resource capacity and do not represent committed work allocations.

However, there is a Resource Management system property that may be enabled in your instance:

Show soft allocations in calendar for (com.snc.resource_management.calendar_show_soft_allocations)

This property controls the visibility of soft allocations in the Resource Calendar and provides the following options:

• Resource Managers – Soft allocations are visible only to resource managers.

• Everyone – Soft allocations are visible to all users with the PPS Resource role.

I would recommend checking the value of this property in your instance, as it may explain why calendar entries are being generated and displayed for soft allocations.
