I think it depends on how granular you want to get with the change and release process. If for example, you are using SAP, you may be aware that knowing just the state of a release may not tell you about the possible implications upon your production environment, it may not tell you if there are going to be collisions, over writes, over takes or if there is parallel development going on pre/post release. In order to have effective management of release and change esp when it comes to complex ERP systems, it maybe best to look at outside vendors that specialize in change and release at a minimum. I am biased about this topic, but you might look at a Service Now certified change tool such as Rev-Trac, available on the store. Or you can just reach out to us for more information.
Cheers,

completely agree Christopher! We use Solman 7.2 ChaRM for transport governance - LOVE IT! Makes SOX compliance for IT.Manage Change controls a no brainer.
But... it isn't an ITSM tool. SN is our system of record for ITSM, so ChaRM is a good child/partner for us.
Our ChaRM managed systems are the only ones we have enforced Release mgt. I'm looking to deploy Release Mgt company wide but am struggling on how to manage Standard changes vs Normal Changes in release.
I'd love to chat about your SN release mgt process.
Thanks,
Thank you, Lesley Klinger
