Changing Project Import Fields

How can I change the import from MSP into SN to look at the Resource Initials field instead of the Resource Name field?   I have mapped the Resource Initials in MSP to mirror the user names in SN and need to change the import map/process.

It sounds like you need to update the Transform Map and add a new Field Mapping.

Hi Drew,

Currently the import is not editable - its part of the base code of the system. We are working on an enhancement to allow mapping of custom MSP fields for a future release. While i 100% understand the general need to map custom columns, can you help me understand what is driving the need to map a different field for resource than the Resource Name?

Our AD is setup for names being Last; First.   When we implemented SN at the time the best practice for naming conventions was First Last.   So our   Project Server resource names do not align or match what is in SN.   I had to use the resource initial field to match names to SN.   I would like to move several of our active projects into SN to run a parallel with them.

If I'm understanding this properly....Prior to importing into ServiceNow, can you just copy the names column from MS Project, paste into Excel, have Excel split the content into 2 columns based on a space, then move the second column before the first, have Excel merge the columns, then re-paste into MS Project? That can be done in a minute or two plus any checking for fixes needed.
