How can I change the import from MSP into SN to look at the Resource Initials field instead of the Resource Name field? I have mapped the Resource Initials in MSP to mirror the user names in SN and need to change the import map/process.

Using the Project Import & Export guide on Docs. In particular, this body of text:
"When you import a project into the instance, project constraints that are not supported are converted as follows:
- Time constraints: The Project Management application Start ASAP and Start on specific date constraints. The application sets the time constraint for imported tasks to Start on specific date if their Microsoft Project time constraint is Must Start On. All other imported Microsoft Project time constraints are set to Start ASAP."
What's not said is that all Projects imported to Kingston are now forced to Manual calculation. What calculation expressly prohibits Start ASAP constraints? Manual projects.
So, you import a project which defaults to Manual, which drops all the Start ASAP time constraints. Customer looks at the size of the project and says "no way I'm doing that manual", swaps it to Automatic, and the schedule gets nuked from orbit.
I know that's different from previous versions because there's threads complaining about the opposite problem in previous versions (projects defaulting to auto).

Hi - Here is the current list of imported fields and their mapping:
During an import, values from Microsoft Project overwrite fields in project records.
This is documented in docs.service-now.com
Microsoft Project fields | Project Management fields |
---|---|
Task Name | Short description |
Note | Description |
Start | Planned start date |
Finish | Planned end date |
Duration | Planned duration |
Actual Start | Actual start date |
Actual Finish | Actual end date |
Actual Duration | Actual duration |
% Complete | Percent complete (personalize the form to add this field) |
Predecessor Lag | Lag time between predecessor and successor |
WBS | WBS |
Critical | Critical path |
Rollup | Rollup |
Text10 (Field used for syncing purposes) | Task Sys_Id |
Project Header Title | Project name |
Project Header Subject (Field used for syncing purposes) | Top Task Sys_Id |
Resource | Assigned to [assigned_to]
Note: During import, if there are multiple resources assigned to a task in Microsoft Project:
|
Resource Group | Assignment Group |
