Demand Intake form - Portfolio / Business Application selection?

Hi Everyone,

 

I was wondering what is a common practice when exposing Demands to different user audiences via a portal/record producer.

 

1. Portfolio - do you have mandatory Portfolio (pm_portfolio) selection on the intake form, if yes, how are Portfolios filtered for the current user (e.g. by department/BU, any other way)? Does Portfolio drive the assignment of the Demand 

in your use case, or is the Demand assigned based on something else?

 

2. Do you have any linkage between Business Apps and Portfolios (there is an OOTB reference to Portfolio on Business App but not clear if this is good practice to use)?

 

3. Do you request the users to populate the Business Application impacted by the demand before submitting? If yes, how do you filter what Business Apps they can see? Or are BAs only added to the demand at a later stage, by Demand Manager?

Usually NO 

  • End users typically don’t understand portfolio, forcing it leads to wrong selections
  • In CSDM context: This linkage is valid but not strongly enforced
  • should users select Business App? Depends on user maturity
  • Show only Business Apps where:
    • Owned by user’s department
    • OR used by their BU
