We are seeking a more streamlined way to extend *Allocated* resource plans. We currently extend at the individual resource plan level. This is a lot of work for large projects. Does anyone have tips / tricks? Maybe a way to extend several at once?

Hi @Mary Myers ,
What would be the criteria for extending multiple resource plans at one go....
For example: there are 10 resource plans for different duration in a project what criteria will decide which one to select & extend?
Thanks,
Namita Mishra

This would happen if the project ends on a specific date, multiple resource plans also end on that date, and we have to extend the end date because the project end date was extended. For example, project ends 12/31/22 and so do the resource plans, the project end date is extended to 3/31/23 and we have to extend all of the resource plans. We are currently going into each individual resource plan to extend them. Ideally, we would be able to extend all at once, or at least extend from the resource plan tab in the project record instead of drilling down into each resource plan. When we try to extend on the resource plan tab, we get the error "security prevents writing to this field".

Hi Mary,
Any user who has resource_manager role can extend the resource plan.
Thanks for sharing the use case - very much possible, I agree.
For your use case of bulk extending the resource plans, if we have the 'Extend' option in the resource plan list UI (in the drop down), then it would allow the bulk extension. But we do not have that option.
As of now, I cannot think of any option that can be suggested for this action other than the one that you are using. Sorry, about this experience.
Can you please raise an idea, hopefully other community members also have this requiremen t and will comment / vote on your idea.
Once that option is available (in future), I would expect RM can follow below steps for bulk extension.
- Login as resource manager
- Select resource plans from the left navigation panel to view the resource plan list
- Filter for the project - for which I need to extend the resource plans
- Select all the resource plans that need to be extended
- From the drop down select extend option ( not available now)
Thanks,
Namita Mishra

Hi Namita,
Is the security error Mary mentions below related to configuration or is it a feature? FWIW, when I look in the SPM use rights doc there isn't a right for extending allocated resource plans.
Thanks,
Ryan
