How do I reset the fiscal calendar?

We loaded the Financial Mgt plugin with sample data in a dev instance.     The problem is that our fiscal year begins July 1 but the current fiscal calendar starts January 1.     How do we clear out the fiscal calendar and start fresh?

System Definition > Fiscal Period - then define the year. Fiscal calendars

There are a couple of Financial plugins, and the plugin Financial Management contains the Fiscal Period.

Yes, we already installed the plugin.   We are looking to remove the Fiscal Calendar records that were installed with the plugin as they don't match our fiscal year.     I know I can delete the records but that might have unintended impact so I was looking for the SN sanctioned approach.

Instead of deleting, can you edit them? View fiscal periods

Bud,

You may have already found this out, but once you activate a plugin it cannot be removed or deactivated, and I know of no way of removing demo data for a specific plugin. You may be able to "delete all rows" for lots of tables but making sure you find them all will be a pain to say the least. This is something I would not want to attempt if I didn't absolutely have to.

And in the case of the financial management plugin, if you've chosen to load demo data with the plugin activation, it is not possible to reverse the selection of a fiscal calendar. There are probably just too many downstream/cascading dependencies. Attempts to generate fiscal calendars using a different fiscal year scheme will be met with an error message saying that the fiscal calendars are not compatible (or something to that effect). The documentation says: "Attention: Once you start working with a set of financial data with a fiscal calendar type, you cannot change to another type of fiscal calendar."

On the one hand, this is completely logical and understandable. Different fiscal calendars in the same instance doesn't really make sense. And if you load the demo data there are those cascading dependencies that would all have to be reversed or modified to match the new calendar somehow.

On the other hand, it is feasible that a company may need to change their fiscal calendar (through merger/acquisition if nothing else) and you would think that SN would have to deal with this somehow. What I'm imagining (but can't verify) is that SN support might have a procedure to do this through the back-office support channel. I don't have a HI support account, so can't search the KB there, but that might be worth checking out if this is still a question and becomes a real concern for a production instance. Maybe they can remove plugins from instances and re-instantiate them?

The good news in the case of a dev instance, you can always wipe it and start from scratch if you need to. That is, assuming you haven't invested too much time/effort in other customizations that haven't been saved in update sets.
