How Project Task percent complete is calculated

Hi All,
I would like to know how the project task and project percent complete fields are updated in ServiceNow. For Project tasks, I see the field is updated as 100 when task is closed complete. Is it not calculated based on start and end date, work in progress state. what business rules will calculate percent completion and roll ups?
