Is It Possible to Build a Personal Gantt Workspace in SPM?

[Background]

I am considering creating a custom Personal Gantt Workspace in SPM instead of using the standard Project Workspace.

The workspace would display tasks assigned to a selected user while preserving the following hierarchy:

Project
  |-Sub Project
        |-Project Task

When a user is selected, I would like to display only the Project Tasks assigned to that user in a Gantt chart while maintaining the Project → Sub Project → Project Task structure.

[Questions]

  1. If I create a new Workspace using UI Builder, is it possible to display a Gantt chart with the following hierarchy?
  2. Is it possible to filter the displayed data dynamically based on the selected user (for example, assigned_to = selected user)?
  3. Can the Workspace automatically use the currently logged-in user as the default filter value and initially display that user's personal Gantt chart?
  4. Has anyone implemented a similar Personal Gantt Workspace? If so, what architecture or approach would you recommend?

Any advice or examples would be appreciated. Thank you!

Hi @Ryo14 ,

Thanks for raising this question with community.

I have created a short video to showcase that out of the box project WBS can be used for the same purpose - focus on the tasks assigned to particular user while maintaining the structure - just filter on the "Resource Assignees".  Point #3 is not available out of the box but otherwise I think this would suffice.

Hope this helps and if it does please mark the response as correct answer to help me and the community.

Thank You!

Hi @Namita Mishra,

Thank you for your suggestion. Filtering by Resource Assignees was actually a blind spot for me, and your approach helped me realize that I may not need to build a custom workspace after all.

The video explanation was also very clear and easy to follow. I really appreciate you taking the time to create and share it.

This is very helpful. Thank you again for your support!

Have a great Friday as well!

Regards,
Ryo
