Hi,
We are implementing a ITBM-PPM for one of our client, now we are in a phase of Resource Management when we ask the Resource Groups to the client they are asking us to create Resource Groups for all the groups which are currently available in the sys_user_group.
Is it a correct way to have all the Groups as Resource Groups ?
If yes, do we just need to change the type and add pps_resource role to the group or create a new groups with similar name ?
does pps_resource is a licensed role ?

Ideally not every assignment group should be a resource group.
There will be situations where the group members for a group will be exactly same for few groups and you dont want the same to exist for resource groups.
These resource groups will help you in resource planning and further aspects. It is best if all the managers are asked for specific resource group details. If your client is not willing to do so , advise on the consequence and then judiciously proceed. There will be too many groups to maintain them.
We have added (RM) at the end of each of our resource managements groups to better differentiate with group_type as resource_management and accordingly set our filters at few areas.
You definitely have to care about licensing aspect and get it checked with your account manager.
Hope this helps !

Hi Shaik,
Yes just need to add the pps_resource role to the groups or users. As far as I am aware it does not require a License. The project managers creating the plans etc., however are using a planner role

that group type tip is really good.
Resource groups will be visible as Assignment group choices unless something is done:
1. can edit the dictionary to change the qualifier to be only type = ITIL (or whatever appropriate condition) and then add type = ITIL to all your incident assignment groups
OR
2. can create a "Type: Resource" and then add to the above condition instead: Type is NOT "Resource"
anyone else doing something different for this use case?
