Resource assignment not updating when project task dates change

We are testing Resource Management behavior in relation to project tasks and are seeing inconsistent behavior that we are trying to validate.

Scenario:

  • A resource is assigned directly to a project task
  • The task start/end dates are updated
  • The resource assignment dates do not change and remain on the original schedule

We were able to consistently reproduce this in testing.

Our expectation was that resource assignment dates would shift along with the task dates when they are directly tied. However, there appears to be no automatic synchronization.

Before logging this as a defect, we wanted to confirm:

  • Is this expected behavior in ServiceNow Resource Management?
  • Are there configurations, business rules, or settings required to enable date synchronization between tasks and resource assignments?

Any guidance or clarification would be appreciated.
